EGG MASK FOR OILY HAIR BENEFITS

Both the yolk and white of an egg provide amazing benefits to your hair.

The yolk of an egg is packed with vitamins (including vitamin A, E and biotin), which can help to make hair more resistant to damage. Egg yolk also contains fats, proteins and iron, which help to not only moisturise dry hair but when applied to the scalp can help to prevent shedding.

The white of an egg contains albumin, a protein that helps to remove oil. This makes it perfect for gently removing unwanted oils from the scalp to stop your hair from looking greasy.

Benefits of egg for your hair

Using both the egg yolk and whites together can therefore make your hair look nourished, shiny and fuller.

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THE EGG MASK FOR OILY HAIR

To make and use the hair mask, all you need is:

  • A bowl to mix the ingredients in
  • A spoon to mix the ingredients
  • A glass or jug to pour the water
  • A sink
  • A towel

INGREDIENTS IN THE EGG MASK FOR OILY HAIR

This egg mask only uses 2 ingredients which you should already have in your kitchen:

  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 pint of warn water

This recipe is based on hair that is shoulder length. For longer hair, double the amounts.

HOW TO USE THE EGG MASK FOR OILY HAIR

Gently rub the mixture into your scalp. Be careful, as this gets messy! Lean over a sink to do this so any egg that drips falls into the sink.

Once your scalp is fully coated, wrap a towel around your shoulders to catch any drips and leave on for 20 minutes. Then wash out thoroughly using warm water (hot will cook the egg in your hair!).

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE THIS EGG MASK FOR OILY HAIR?

As egg yolk contains protein, this mask would be considered a strong protein treatment. Protein can make your hair strong and shiny, but too much can cause your hair to become brittle and snap off, so it’s advised to only use this treatment once a month.

OTHER EGG MASKS VARIATIONS

As the different parts of the egg have different benefits, you can use more of certain parts for even better results.

  • Use only the egg whites mixed with water on your scalp to target grease alone. You can use it more often (once every 2 weeks).
  • Mix just the egg yolk with an oil (avocado oil is amazing for your hair) and use all over your hair as a moisturising treatment. Again only use this once per month.
