- Honey (2 tablespoons)
DIY COFFEE SCRUB INGREDIENTS BENEFITS
This recipe only uses 3 ingredients, but is amazing for your skin because they are natural and have a lot of benefits!
Sugar contains lots of fine granules which exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells, making your skin smooth and soft. It helps to tighten the skin and improve circulation. Sugar is also a humectant, meaning it draws moisture from the air (which there will be loads of in your shower!) so your skin will be moisturised. You can use either brown or white sugar, but keep in mind brown sugar is softer than granulated sugar, meaning really gentle but effective exfoliation.
Honey contains antioxidants which are amazing for ageing skin, and is anti-bacterial which helps to clarify the skin. It also has very good moisturising properties which helps to reduce dryness.
The caffeine found in coffee is a natural diuretic, which helps to tighten the skin. The coffee grounds help to give the scrub even more exfoliating properties, smoothing and brightening the skin.
HOW TO MAKE THE DIY COFFEE SCRUB
- Put 1 tablespoon of sugar into a large bowl.
- Add 1 tablespoon of coffee.
- Pour in 2 tablespoons of honey or squeeze from a bottle whilst stirring. The more honey you add the more runny it will be (and less concentrated with the bits that exfoliate the skin).
- Mix together well using a spoon.
Once the ingredients are well mixed, transfer to an airtight container or a jar. Use the scrub once a week for smooth glowing skin.
