DIY CINNAMON LIP SCRUB INGREDIENT BENEFITS
This recipe only uses 5 ingredients, but they have a lot of benefits!
SUGAR
Sugar is a natural humectant, which means it draws moisture from the air into your skin and keeps your lips hydrated. The fine granules in sugar act as an exfoliate to help slough away dead skin cells on the lips, creating a smooth surface. Sugar granules are finer than the granules found in salt and brown sugar is softer than granulated sugar, meaning really gentle but effective exfoliation and glowing lips for you!
CINNAMON
Cinnamon is a spice that not only tastes delicious but contains the most antioxidants compared to other spices. It is also known to help improve blood flow, so by using it directly on the lips, it reduces fine lines and makes them seem fuller.
COCONUT OIL
Coconut oil helps to moisturise and soften the lips. It’s also anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, which means it helps to soothe the lips and get rid of bacteria. (If you love coconut oil, be sure to check out these coconut oil hair hacks here!).
VITAMIN E
When absorbed deep into the skin, Vitamin E encourages the production of collagen, which is important for skin elasticity and prevents fine lines. It also contains antioxidants that help to protect the lips from sun damage.
HONEY
Honey has very good moisturising properties which helps to reduce dryness. It also contains antioxidants which nourish damaged skin, and is anti-bacterial.
HOW TO MAKE THE DIY CINNAMON LIP SCRUB
- Put 1 teaspoon of the ground cinnamon into a bowl.
- Add 1 teaspoon of sugar.
- Pour in 1 teaspoon of melted coconut oil.
- Pierce the vitamin E capsule using the pin, and squeeze the contents into the bowl.
- Add 1/2 a teaspoon of honey.
- Mix together well using a spoon.
Once the ingredients are well mixed, transfer to an airtight container and leave to set.
Then use frequently for the best results!
